Hey there! I'm Kyle, a Data Scientist with a Master's in Applied Data Science from the University of Michigan. What I really love doing is diving into complex data, figuring out what it all means, and then building smart, practical ways to solve problems with it. I've got over two years of experience doing this in academic research, and right now, I'm a Data Manager and Statistician at UM's School of Public Health. It’s been great leading projects there using things like statistical modeling (OLS and mixed-effects models), machine learning, and some cool geospatial analysis.
A lot of my day-to-day involves developing new geospatial tools, cleaning and mapping data with ArcGIS, setting up automated data backups (super important!), and making sure our data is handled securely. My main go-to tools are Python, R, SQL, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). I also get a kick out of building projects from scratch; for example, I created Techlist.me, a full-stack web app on GCP that helps job seekers see what tech skills are in demand, and I enjoy tinkering with other algorithmic tools.
I'm pretty good at explaining technical stuff in a way that everyone can understand, a skill I definitely picked up in earlier customer-facing jobs. I enjoy sharing what I know, whether that’s presenting on data topics or helping my teammates learn new things. I'm really excited to bring my skills to a new team and tackle some interesting challenges where I can help drive data-driven success.
When I’m not deep in data, you'll probably find me cooking up something new, at the gym, or planning my next trip; I love exploring different cultures and finding fresh perspectives. I always enjoy connecting with other people in the data world and am open to exploring potential collaborations. Feel free to reach out!
